Donna Kelce Gives Honest Opinion of Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’

Donna Kelce and Taylor Swift

Less than one week after the release of Taylor Swift’s new album, Donna Kelce shared what she really thinks about the material, some of which fans believe referenced her younger son.

The megastar began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce several months before she announced plans to release The Tortured Poets Department back in February. The couple first took their romance public last fall and, if their recent PDA-filled stop by Coachella is any indication, their relationship is going strong.

When The Tortured Poets Department arrived on April 19 as a surprise 31-track double album, fans quickly began dissecting its lyrics to determine whether the “Cruel Summer” singer’s relationship with Travis—or any she had previously—was referenced in the songs. Small hints included on some tracks indicated Swift did sprinkle in some nods to the NFL player.

While attending QVC’s Age of Possibility Summit in Las Vegas this week, Donna told People that she already heard “the whole album” and was “very impressed.”

“She is a very talented woman, and I think it is probably her best work,” Donna said of her son’s girlfriend.

“Mama Kelce” also brushed off the suggestion that the “Anti-Hero” songstress might need some of her advice. "She doesn’t need my advice on anything,” Donna said. “In fact, I hope she will give me advice.”

While Swifties believe some lyrics on the pop star’s 11th studio album referenced her past relationships with actor Joe Alwyn and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, Travis himself seemingly confirmed last week that at least one of Swift’s new songs, “So High School,” was about him. Swift, who is known for planting Easter eggs in her work for fans to find, even highlighted her initials and Travis’ in the “So High School” lyric video, which fans interpreted as confirmation that the song was a sweet nod to their time together.
