It’s human nature to be envious — especially when it comes to toys. You may be a grown adult shopping for your kid, but you can’t help but feel a tickle of jealousy when you see the children’s toys of today. Welp, meet the KidKraft Uptown Play Kitchen. It’s truly a play kitchen so upscale that it makes your current cooking space look like your first apartment.

Made for ages 3-12, the Kidkraft Uptown Play Kitchen comes in three different finishes: White, Espresso and Natural. However, the Kidcraft Uptown Espresso Play Kitchen with the 30-Piece Play Food was the winner of the People’s Choice Award for Toy of the Year in 2016. It’s that legit.

Your little one can “cook up” some fun with the plethora of appliances that come with this play kitchen. There’s a refrigerator and freezer with a chalkboard for writing on it. Plus, there’s an oven, a shelf cabinet and even a microwave door, with all the appliances opening and closing. The sink and oven knobs also turn. Not to mention, there’s even a cordless phone attached to the kitchen as well.

Parents who shopped the toy at Walmart give the kitchen 4.5 out of 5 stars. However, the kitchen loses points with the assembly time. One person said they felt “intimidated by the contents in the box.”

“At first glance, I was intimidated by the contents in the box,” they wrote. “But each item was labeled, and I followed the directions in the manual. Took me and my family 3-4 hours to assemble. I am highly satisfied with this elegant kitchen. My four-year-old daughter has been cooking endlessly, day and night. It is beautifully made, and the turnable knobs are realistic. The sink is removable, making it user friendly. All in all, a good buy.”

One customer who only left four stars mentioned it took their family up to two and a half hours to put together.

“The kitchen appears to be good quality so far,” they explained. “My only complaint is the significant amount of time and effort it takes to assemble the kitchen even though I felt that the number/lettering system worked well. It took my husband and I about 2-2.5 hours together to put it together using a drill. It would take significantly longer with one person or with a screwdriver.”

Let your kid learn the basics of cooking with this neat toy, and if you’re up for a DIY project that’s a one and done, well, you’re in for a good time.
