Don’t bring the kids: This scary Miami Halloween attraction is moving to a new space

For the past two years, the brave and the bold could buckle up and drive through a haunted Miami hellscape for Halloween.

And no, we don’t mean I-95 at rush hour (though honestly, that is pretty scary). We mean the popular drive-through experience, The Horrorland, which was set up in the parking lot of the Aventura Mall and featured a variety of creepy souls wandering around with presumably murderous intentions.

The Horrorland returns to Miami this week, just in time for spooky season. But this time, you can’t lock your doors — it’s a walk-through experience, putting you even closer to all the ghouls.

Created as a drive-through experience in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic, The Horrorland has moved from the mall to the 18-acre Jungle Island, where guests can walk through eight different haunted houses and several scare zones that include but are not limited to insane clowns, evil nuns and chainsaw-wielding freaks. There are also games, vendors and shops.

The experience is so scary it’s not recommended for anyone under the age of 13. You must sign a waiver to enter, so buy your tickets wisely.

“We put a lot of thought into the stories and preparation for this year’s event,” said Francisco Santos, CEO and director of Live305 Entertainment, which creates the spectacle in a partnership with Cirque Factory. “It’s exhilarating to walk down a dark trail with scary elements everywhere.”

Also part of The Horrorland this year is Vampire Circus, which features vampire characters performing acrobatics and other illusions. Admission is included as part of The Horrorland ticket.

In 2020 and 2021, The Horrorland featured a drive-through experience; this year guests will walk through the haunted houses and other scare zones.
