Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead exited Sunday’s road game against the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury late in the second quarter. The team initially said he was questionable to return and later ruled him out at the beginning of the second half.

On a third-down play, while pass-blocking, Armstead was pushed to the ground by defensive end A.J. Epenesa and bent awkwardly. After laying on the ground for a moment, Armstead got up and immediately walked to the locker room with trainers.

After the game, a 48-20 loss, Armstead was seen leaving Highmark Stadium on crutches.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said he will have more information on Armstead’s status on Monday but added: “I know it wasn’t just a reaggravation of anything.”

Armstead was questionable entering the game because of injuries to his back, knee and ankle. It’s unclear whether he injured the same knee or the other.

Armstead missed four games in 2022 because of a litany of injuries. He underwent an offseason knee “clean up” and spent the first week of training camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list. On Aug. 17, Armstead sustained an ankle injury during joint practices with the Houston Texans. He was sidelined for almost a month, returning to practice on Sept. 13. He made his season debut in Miami’s Week 3 win against the Denver Broncos.

Kendall Lamm, who started the first two games of the season for Armstead, entered the game at left tackle. With Armstead sidelined and starting center Connor Williams inactive because of a groin injury, the Dolphins’ offensive line struggled. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who entered the game being sacked only once, was brought down four times.
