The Dolphins drafted Patrick Paul, whose wingspan is similar to Giannis Antetokounmpo

MIAMI GARDENS — Patrick Paul is 6-foot-7½ inches, with a wingspan of 86¼ inches.

If you've ever seen a photo of Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo with his arms spread out wide, horizontal to the court, you'll have an idea of just how enormous Paul is.

Antetokounmpo is 6-foot-11, with a wingspan of 87 inches.

The Dolphins basically used their second-round pick on left tackle Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“The first thing Mike (McDaniel) and everyone joked about when he came on his visit, he fills up the hallway when he walked in," Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Friday.

Added McDaniel: "No, seriously. It’s like more of the hallway is filled than not.”

The Dolphins believe that until Paul refines his technical skills, he has the ability to use those incredibly long arms to recover when beaten.

At his best, of course, Paul can engulf opposing pass rushers.

What is Patrick Paul's wingspan?

Organized team activity drills and training camp drills featuring Miami's top two draft picks — edge rusher Chop Robinson, of Penn State, and Paul, of Houston — may be fascinating.

How can Paul use his arms to an advantage?

"Always being the first person, if your timing is right, to always land that first punch and get that first contact, it gives you an advantage being the first to strike," Paul said Friday.

Paul's arms are 36¼ inches.

Consider that's longer than the average adult baseball bat.

Consider that's about the length of a guitar.

When Giannis Antetokounmpo (34) was a rookie, in 2013, folks were understandably fascinated by his long arms and impressive wingspan. He's seen here with teammates John Henson (11) and Larry Sanders (8).

Because Paul is uniquely, well, towering, skyscraping and colossal, one might think he's constantly being asked to help folks reach things on high shelves.

Not so!

“Not exactly," Paul said. "Most of my friends are pretty big, being an offensive lineman. Also with my family as well. So not really."

Paul added: "But if they ever did, I’m going to grab it for them!"
