The NFL has been slowly releasing a few matchups and dates for marquee 2024 games, including the first ever game to be played in Brazil. Here's what we know about the 2024 NFL schedule release and who the Dolphins will play this season:

What day does the NFL schedule get released?

The NFL does not have a set date for when it releases its schedule for the upcoming season. But judging by the past few years, we can guess that the 2024 NFL schedule will come out May 9.

Each of the past three years, the NFL has released its schedule on the second Thursday of May. Here's when the league has released its schedule each year since 2020. We've also thrown in when it's made its announcement about the release date:

Looking at recent years, the NFL will either announce when the schedule will come out either the week before the NFL Draft or a few days before the schedule is released.

When does the NFL start again? When does the Dolphins 2024 season start?

The Dolphins have six organized team activities scheduled in May, starting with Monday, May 20. Preseason games start Thursday, August 1, 2024 with the Houston Texans vs. the Chicago Bears in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The rest of the preseason games will begin Thursday, August 8.

Week 1 of the 2024 season kicks off Thursday, September 5 with the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs playing an opponent to be determined. On Friday, September 6, the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers will play the first NFL game in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Dolphins will start their 2024 schedule either Sunday, September 8 or Monday, September 9.
