Dolly Parton's Reaction to a "Jolene" Spinoff from "America's Got Talent" Is Everything

"Jolene" is one of those timeless songs that just keeps on giving. With stars like Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson among the many artists who have covered the iconic Dolly Parton song, no one's run with a different narrative where, unlike the song lyrics, Jolene can take the man...until now.

When country music girl group Chapel Hart took center stage on America's Got Talent, they did not disappoint with their original song titled "You Can Have Him, Jolene." They explained, "We were so inspired by the song ‘Jolene’ and we just love the storyline and we figured though, from 1973 to 2022, we could not still be fighting over the same man, so we decided to tell her, ‘You can just have him, Jolene.’”

By the end of their performance, the entire crowd was chanting "Golden Buzzer" and although every judge has used their chance to press the coveted buzzer, they decided to use their one group Golden Buzzer to send Chapel Hart farther into the competition.

The audience and judges weren't the only people rooting for the trio, either! The country queen herself took to Twitter to share what she really thought about the America's Got Talent audition song. Parton shared this tweet and gave full approval of Chapel Hart's spinoff:

Fans also weighed in by leaving comments like, "You know when the Queen appreciates it, you have made it!" and "Wow. The bar has just been sky-rocketed by these girls. Best audition EVER."

Since releasing the song "Jolene" in 1973, Parton and her husband Carl Thomas Dean have been together ever since. No one knows what happened to the red-headed bank teller who inspired the song after flirting with her husband, but one thing remains true—Dolly and Carl have always kept the romance alive. After all, she did recreate her 1978 Playboy cover just for Carl's birthday.
