Dolly Parton Revealed She Almost Crashed Her Car the First Time She Heard Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball"

Dolly Parton and her goddaughter Miley Cyrus have been two peas in a pod since Miley was born in the early '90s. As Miley gained notoriety with her role as Hannah Montana, Dolly was there to support, guest starring on several occasions. In the past, Miley released covers of several of Dolly's hit songs including "Jolene," but now the pair's roles have reversed. On October 20, Dolly released a cover of Miley's iconic "Wrecking Ball" featuring Cyrus, and the duo added a special twist to the end, bringing in a few verses from "I Will Always Love You."

Parton and Cyrus first performed the medley at "Miley's New Year's Eve Party" to ring in 2023. Now, the pair officially released the song, which will be a part of Dolly's Rockstar album, dropping November 17.

Dolly took to Instagram to announce the new song. "I remember the first time I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ it hit me the same way as it did the first time I heard ‘I Will Always Love You’ by Whitney Houston. I was driving, heard that one, and I almost wrecked. And when I heard ‘Wrecking Ball,’ I almost wrecked again. I thought when it started into that chorus, ‘It hit me like a wrecking ball,’ I thought, ‘Well, how great can a song be?'," Dolly said.

Fans raved about the song in the comments, saying: "Aunt Dolly is so proud of her goddaughter ❤️❤️❤️ I'm OBSESSED with new version of Wrecking Ball! Miley's vocals are insane and even more powerful than 10 years ago. 🔥🔥🔥 ICONIC!!" and "This version DESERVES a grammy🔥🔥 it's SO good. Miley and Dolly are ROCKSTARS!!!! The vocalsssss 🔥🔥🔥."

Miley also promoted the song on her Instagram and shared her admiration for 'Aunt Dolly.' "I’ve grown up covering my Aunt Dollys music & it’s an honor to hear her singing one of my songs. I love you Aunt Dolly! I’m so happy to add another collaboration under our bedazzled (studded leather) belt! We’re ROCKSTARS now! You can hear so much sweetness and love on this record. Excited to share it with everyone. Forever your Doll Baby, Miley," she captioned her post.

"We always say such sweet things about one another, but you are especially good to me, Miley! I know sometimes it sounds gushy to people like it is false and not real but it truly is real. I just love what you said about our ‘Wrecking Ball’ duet and I feel the same! I always feel so honored to be able to sing with you and get to be around you. You are the most gifted person I know, truly. I want to say again how proud I am of the record but more than anything how proud I am of you and our relationship.
Dolly
P.S. We hope you all love the record!," Parton responded.

It's clear these two have a close relationship and a lot of love for one another. Their vocal compatibility is just the cherry on top!
