Beauty gurus are absolutely quaking in their boots after Dolly Parton's recent makeup admission.

In her new memoir, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, the 77-year-old admitted to committing what many skincare enthusiasts would consider to be a cardinal sin: she sleeps in her makeup—and she's done so for decades.

Per Entertainment Tonight, the country crooner opened up about the bizarre habit, dating back to the '80s. Ever since she first set foot in Los Angeles, it was a strangely specific fear that prompted the routine.

"I started sleeping with my makeup on, partly because of the earthquakes," she wrote. "I thought, 'I'm not heading out on the streets without makeup in case there are cameras out there! I'm going to be ready to go!'"

But while the idea of being captured by paparazzi with a bare face was certainly a point of anxiety for the glam-loving superstar, it wasn't the sole driving factor.

Parton also copped to wanting to look good next to her husband of more than 50 years, Carl Dean, even in the dark. "I don't want to go to bed looking like a hag with Carl," she wrote.

While many of us make it a point to ensure our skin is totally product-free ahead of bedtime, Parton doesn't think it matters when she cleanses her face, so long as she does so once a day. "After I wake up, I do all the little rituals, and then I start over again and go out every day and look good all day long," she said.

Hey—if it works, it works!
