Dole Whip is a Disney Parks exclusive — now that’s changing. Would you eat it at home?

Do you love Disney’s Dole Whip? The soft-serve frozen treat is high on the list of iconic foods in Florida.

There’s not much better than cooling off with one right before you head into the equally tropical Enchanted Tiki Room right next door in the Magic Kingdom in Florida. Or having a boozy version at Epcot’s food festival.

Is it the surroundings that make Dole Whip so good? Or the actual swirl in your cardboard Disney cup?

The frozen soft-serve, created by the Dole Food Co. in 1984, has been just as much an attraction at Disney Parks’ Aloha Isle stand in Adventureland as the theme park rides. And to think, it’s just a creamy concoction of vanilla ice cream, pineapple juice and frozen pineapple.

An iconic food

The pineapple-flavored dessert, whose essence has been sold as an air freshener for sale at Disney gift stores, is even made in such a way as to resist melting too quickly in the Central Florida heat, Food and Wine has reported. There’s no word yet on how that consistency may differ in your home freezer.

According to a news release from Dole this month, Dole Whip will be sold at grocers nationwide in three flavors — the original pineapple, and mango and strawberry — sometime in 2023. An on-sale date hasn’t been announced.

Florida-based grocers Publix, Southeastern Grocers (parent company of Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más ) and Sedano’s haven’t responded yet to a Miami Herald inquiry about whether they will carry it in their stores.

Dole Whip at grocers is one of 11 product launches Dole Packaged Foods plans to market in 2023, the company said.
