‘We need to get dogs out of the shelter’: Kansas Humane Society without heat after gas leak

The Kansas Humane Society in Wichita is without heat after turning off its gas while investigating a leak.

“While we investigate the cause of the damages and await the total price to fix and turn the gas back on, we need to get dogs out of the shelter,” the humane society said Friday on social media.

Through Sunday, “all dogs (excluding high-profile dogs) are only $50,” the post says. Adult cats will continue to be pick-your-price.

The KHS is also asking for donations to help with repairs and to borrow space heaters and air purifiers. It can be reached at 316-524-9196.

Temperatures will be in the high 30s to low 40s early Sunday and Monday morning before temperatures start to warm up later in the week.

Donations can be made at online at kshumane.org/give; through Venmo @kshumanesociety and Cashapp at $KSHumaneSociety.

KHS is located at 3313 N. Hillside.
