Dog from WV found in SC over 2 years after being lost. Here are the details

A four-legged friend will soon be reunited with his owner in West Virginia after being lost more than two years ago in the Myrtle Beach area.

The dog was found with the help of a lost pets Facebook group. Volunteers are planning to return the dog to his West Virginia owner next week.

Roscoe, a pit bull, was recently brought in to All4Paws Animal Rescue in Pawley’s Island. He appeared to have been attacked by another dog and the phone number on his microchip was out of date.

“He was super sweet. I mean especially with him being injured and limping, all he wanted was to snuggle and give kisses,” said Peyton Kennedy, dog foster and adoption coordinator at the rescue. “There was something in my heart that just told me like, go and help this dog.”

As a last resort, Kennedy posted a photo of the dog in the Lost Pets Of Horry/Georgetown Countys Facebook group on Jan. 5.

Four hours later, a commenter, Rachel Day, confirmed the dog’s name and gender. She said that Roscoe belonged to her brother, who brought the dog from West Virginia in the fall of 2020 for vacation. The then 2-year-old dog ran away in Conway.

The owner received an email saying Roscoe’s microchip was scanned at All4Paws.

“My brother thought it was a joke or that someone was pranking him so I dove in with my detective skills and found this page!” Day wrote on the Lost Pets group. “I’m so happy for them. They love each other so much.”

A volunteer is planning on driving Roscoe halfway to West Virginia next week to reunite the pair.
