Dog Parents Throw Party to Reveal Their Pup's Ancestry Test Results and the Joy is Contagious

If parents and parents-to-be can celebrate their children with elaborate parties, who's to say that pet parents can't do the same? There are so many ways to make your dog or cat feel as special as can be, but one dog dad's ancestry-reveal party for his beloved pooch just may take the cake.

Franky's dad, Samuel, found the perfect opportunity to share the big news: on the dog's birthday, of course! He invited over some of his and Franky's closest friends for a dramatic reveal, and everyone's reactions did not disappoint. In fact, the sheer joy for this dog is the best part of Samuel's April 13 video!

Happy Birthday, Franky! This is such an adorable way to celebrate a beloved furry friend, though I think the mixed breed dog is a bit confused about what everyone is so happy about. But at the same time, he's just so glad to be in his dad's arms!

Even if the birthday boy wasn't very invested in his own DNA results, the reactions from everyone else are pure gold. Samuel nearly jumped for joy when he saw that his boy was partly Chihuahua! As the video's caption said, he "knew he would be Mexican like his daddy." I don't think this moment could get any cuter!

"The fact there are so many people in your life who are excited about your dog’s DNA is simply the cutest thing ever!" gushed commenter @nicolenightfall. "You’re so blessed!" It really is a gift to have loved ones who care about your pet dog as much as you do. Not only will they be there for you and your pup when things get tough, but they'll be there to party when things are good, too.

While some people know their dog's ancestral history thanks to breeding records or obvious physical comparisons, plenty of dog owners are basically left in the dark. And that's OK! Mixed breed dogs, AKA 'mutts,' are just as loveable and loyal as any purebred pooch. But if you're curious about your fur baby's DNA, I don't blame you.

There are several dog DNA kits that you can buy from your favorite pet store or online retailer, though it's worth doing some research before purchasing. Different kits can test for more than just a dog's breed, including genetic health predispositions, but it's up to you whether to test this or not.

Canine DNA tests are conducted using the dog's saliva, so you don't need to do anything stressful, like drawing your dog's blood. It can take a few weeks to a few months to get an answer though, and waiting is often the worst part. When you have your dog's ancestry results, however, you can throw a party just like Samuel did for Franky!
