Yep, a baby mattress. Here are the positives: they usually come with a mattress protector, which are "easy to wipe clean," she explained. You can even customize your bed with a fitted crib sheet, which come in a variety of colors and prints.

"For the same price you now have an adorable dog bed," she added.

Commenters thought the hack was brilliant. "No one realizes that our pets are giant toddlers and should be treated like one, all my minions have toddler beds," one person joked. "We bought a cheap Ikea crib/toddler bed and it matches the decor too!" another commenter shared. "This is exactly what I do for my pup and for dogs with arthritis or the onset of hip dysplasia this is good for them," a third person chimed in. "I was waiting for the dog but all I saw was a comfy baby," one person joked.

Choosing a Good Dog Bed

Maybe the baby bed route isn't for you. That's cool. There are other ways to find a dog bed that will suit your pup's needs.

Dogs need their own bed so that they have a safe haven. As nice as it is to have them sleep at the foot our your bed, it's just not the same. First, figure out what kind of sleeper your dog is. Just like humans they have favorite sleeping positions and certain beds will suit them better than others.

Then decide how big of a bed you'll need. Is your dog still growing? Then they'll probably need a bed with a little extra space. There are different styles of beds too. For example, if your dog likes to hide when they feel unsafe, a tent bed might be a good fit. A cave bed has a similar shape and can provide a warm canopy for your dog to feel protected.

The best way to make these calls is to observe your dog's sleeping habits and figure out how much space they'll need. And voila! You're ready to find the perfect doggy bed.
