Dodgers Reportedly Considering Blockbuster Free Agency Move
Major League Baseball free agency officially kicked off last week with a series of massive moves.
The Texas Rangers and New York Mets have gone all-in, handing out a plethora of major contracts to star players like Corey Seager and Max Scherzer. Despite a few huge moves, MLB free agency isn’t close to over just yet.
Star first baseman Freddie Freeman is still on the open market. According to a new report, the Los Angeles Dodgers are one of several teams attempting to land the five-time All-Star.
“Teams are trying to pry superstar 1B Freddie Freeman from Atlanta,” MLB insider Jon Heyman said. “Some say they still don’t think it will happen but are surprised he’s still free. Dodgers, who lost Seager and could move Muncy to 2B, may have best hope for SoCal product, NYY, TOR (h/t Carlos Baerga) reached out.”

It’s difficult to see Freeman leaving the Atlanta Braves, where he’s played his entire career thus far. However, if the Braves aren’t willing to pay up, other teams like the Dodgers can make attractive offers.
Los Angeles is always among the top payrolls in baseball. Landing Freddie Freeman would certainly keep the Dodgers at the top of that list.
