Doctor Who specials' theme tune gets BBC Radio 2 air date
Doctor Who is back for its 60th anniversary specials in November, but fans will be able to hear the new version of the theme tune before that.
Murray Gold, who served as musical director and composer for Doctor Who between 2005 and 2017, has returned to compose the music for the new era. Some of his tracks will be premiered during Doctor Who @60: A Musical Celebration, airing on Radio 2 on Sunday, October 15 at 8pm.
Fans will get to hear the show's iconic theme tune, as well as character themes for the Fifteenth Doctor and companion Ruby Sunday. The performance includes classic tracks like 'The Impossible Girl', 'This is Gallifrey' and 'I Am The Doctor', to name just three.

The concert, which took place last week, will be available to watch at a later date.
"As listeners to my Radio 2 show know, I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, so presenting this concert is a dream come true," Jo Whiley said.
"How better to mark the incredible 60th anniversary of the show than with this wonderful celebration of the music that has featured across the decades."

Radio 2 boss Helen Thomas added: "BBC Radio 2 just had to mark this momentous anniversary of one of our most-loved BBC TV series.
"We're thrilled to bring the amazing BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Singers to the station to play the memorable music of Doctor Who, which we know our listeners will love."
Russell T Davies, Steven Moffat and Chris Chibnall all made a rare appearance together at the event, and have made "contributions" to the concert.
Doctor Who @60: A Musical Celebration will premiere on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds on Sunday, October 15 at 8pm. Doctor Who returns in November on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Series 1-12 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
