Doctor Who confirms return to BBC Proms
Doctor Who will be returning to the BBC Proms this year.
The Beeb has announced its full plans for the Proms orchestral concerts for 2024, with Doctor Who being represented for the first time since 2013.
The Doctor Who Prom will be held on August 26 at the Royal Albert Hall, with tickets going on sale from Thursday, May 16.
Here's the official synopsis for the show: "Doctor Who makes its much-anticipated return to the Proms with a brand-new show celebrating the latest adventures of the Doctor. Showcasing [composer] Murray Gold’s epic music for the series performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Prom features sequences from the series on big screens, spectacular lighting and a host of special guest appearances – and, yes, there will be monsters! A concert like no other in all of space and time …"

It has been announced that esteemed conductor Alastair John King will be working with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for this special event. Aside from his stage work, Alastair has also orchestrated the scores of hit films Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Postman Pat: The Movie, plus last year's Doctor Who @60: A Musical Celebration special.
The Doctor Who Prom (or Doctor Who at the Proms as it used to be titled) originally took place three times between 2008 and 2013.
In the past, the event has seen David Tennant starring in a musical mini-episode written by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, along with Julian Bleach reprising his role as Davros for a special appearance.
There's no telling which special guests will appear this time, but the event will be held shortly after Ncuti Gatwa's first season as the Fifteenth Doctor.

Doctor Who will return for its 14th series on May 11 at midnight, airing on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Classic episodes of Doctor Who are available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
