Dive in! What you need to know before local swimming pools open on Memorial Day weekend
ZANESVILLE − Local swimming pools are preparing to open their gates for the summer season and signing up community members for their season passes. Ready to get your bathing suit on? Check out where you can show it off and have fun this summer season.
Dresden Swim Center
The Dresden Swim Center, 1330 Main St., is preparing to open on Memorial Day weekend.
Pool hours will be Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The competition course will close at 4:30 p.m. for swim team on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.
June 5 and 12, and July 12, the pool will close at 4:30 p.m. due to swim competitions, and all July 17 for a swim meet, with the rain date as July 18.
Children 2 and younger are admitted free. Punch cards are $90 for 12 punches.
Season passes for Dresden residents are: Seniors, $99; Single, $99; Couple, $175; Family of 5, $250; Additional family members are $25 each.
Season passes for non-residents are: Seniors, $179; Single, $199; Couple, $299; Family of 5, $399; Additional family members are $35 each.
The shelter rental is available and is $50 Monday through Thursday, and $75 Friday through Sunday, for all day and during regular pool operation hours.
The Frazeysburg Pool
The Frazeysburg Pool, 141 E. Fifth St., is now hiring lifeguards in preparation for its summer season kicking off Memorial Day weekend.
The pool received a $10K grant from the Schooler Foundation last year that was used to purchase two lifeguard chairs at $1,937.40 each and a new pump at $8,334.98, said Mayor Fred Wolford.
“We also had to purchase parts to repair several ladders,” he said, at a cost of $356.64.
Wolford noted the rates for the 2024 season are: Individual early bird rate is $100 while the season rate is $125; the Senior season rate is $60; the Family early bird rate is $200 while the season rate is $225; the Punch card rate for 11 visits is $70; the adult daily rate is $8 with children at $7; and a pool party for up to 50 attendees is $200.
Muskingum County Family YMCA
The Muskingum County Family YMCA located at 1425 Newark Road offers two indoor pools for patrons to use year-round. The lap pool which starts at five feet deep and goes up, and the warm activity pool, which is 3 to 5 feet deep and kept at 88 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Anyone can come and use the pool at any time during the year at a rate of $10 per day without a YMCA membership. However, the YMCA also offers a special summer membership from May 15 to Aug. 15 that includes the entire facility, plus the pool. Those rates are available by calling the YMCA at 740-453-9622.
Memberships available include Family, Single Parent Family, Couple, Single Adult, Senior Adult, Senior Couple, Young Adult, and Youth.
