District soccer titles for Cardinal Gibbons, Doral, Fort Lauderdale, Lourdes, Palmer and more

Fort Lauderdale defeated Blanche Ely 8-0 to win its first girls’ soccer district championship in more than 30 years.

In that District 13-6A finals, Chelcy McNally and Lola Mackie scored two goals each, and keeper Lily O’Neil recorded the shutout.

The Flying L’s (10-6-3) advance to regionals along with Cardinal Gibbons.

Cardinal Gibbons had a closer call in the District 14-4A finals. The Chiefs (14-2-2) edged Somerset Academy-Pembroke Pines 1-0 in overtime.

That makes seven consecutive district titles and 15 overall.

Keeper Andrea Stampone had nine saves en route to her 12th shutout of the season.
