The first day of the new school year for teachers was also Cameron Parker's first day as acting principal at Emma E. Booker Elementary School, the Sarasota County School district announced Wednesday.

Parker, who is replacing outgoing principal Edwina Oliver, had been the professional development assistant principal at Booker Middle School since 2016. She is one of three new elementary school principals in Sarasota County this school year, joining Mindy Long at Alta Vista Elementary and Michelle Miller at Gulf Gate Elementary.
