Disenchanted you missed Enchanted Airlie tickets? Try these Wilmington-area holiday lights

It's another holiday season in Wilmington, and perhaps you missed out on tickets to one of the Port City's favorite Christmas traditions: Enchanted Airlie.

And, yes, tickets are sold out again for the large light display at Airlie Gardens.

If you missed out, here are some other holiday traditions that also "light" up the area.

The Southern Lights

The Gardens of Southeastern North Carolina will present The Southern Lights, a collaborative masterpiece with Patriot Illumination. The Gardens of Southeastern North Carolina will be transformed into a wonderland of lights, featuring your favorite holiday characters and a delightful array of walk-through lights. There will be other activities, such as firepits to roast marshmallows, enjoy a wood-fired pizza, made in-house, or try one of the food trucks.

Ticket reservations available at https://thegardensofsenc.com/southern-lights. Holiday festivities continue through Saturday, Dec. 23.

'All is Bright'

Another good backup plan if you didn't get Enchanted Airlie tickets, Poplar Grove Plantation at the New Hanover/Pender county line will be lit up and decorated for the holidays from Nov. 24-Dec. 23. Hours are 5-9 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, and kids can visit with Santa every night but Sunday.

Dec. 10 is a pet-friendly night with a costume contest and photos with Santa.

Tickets start at $10 with package deals available. Details at PoplarGrove.org.

Leland in Lights at Founders Park

Leland in Lights will still go on despite renovations going on this year at Founders Park. Only leashed dogs are allowed. Alcohol is not allowed. The event runs through Jan. 2.

Lake Linda's CHRISTmas Lights

This display of lights on and around a lake has been spreading cheer for years and was even featured on "The Great Christmas Light Fight" TV show on ABC in 2020.

Located off U.S. 17 at 218 Old House Road in Hampstead, it runs from Nov. 23-Jan. 1. As a nonprofit group, the family accepts donations that support charities, including the local chapter of Toys for Tots and Autism Support and Programs in Rocky Point.

Greater Topsail Area Flotilla

The Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism will hold its third annual flotilla and Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec. 9. The flotilla should arrive at Soundside Park by 6 p.m. weather permitting. The flotilla is just a portion of the day activities, which also includes the Christmas Market, which will open at noon at Soundside Park, 517 Roland Ave. in Surf City. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos with the family from 3-6 p.m. Music will be by Fryd on the Boat band.
