Direct one-way flights from PBIA to near Philadelphia for less than $100 will be offered

Avelo Airlines will start offering nonstop flights between Palm Beach International Airport and the Philadelphia area this fall that it says will cost less than $100 each way and take less than three hours.

The Houston-based airline will travel between PBIA and Wilmington International Airport in Delaware, about an hour away from Philadelphia by train and bus, or less than one hour driving. Flights start Nov. 8. Would-be passengers can book tickets online at AveloAir.com.

Avelo Airlines says it is offering $67 fares each way to those who book by Tuesday, Aug. 13, for flights during the first three full weeks of November.

Tickets for the two airlines offering nonstop flights this fall between PBIA and Philadelphia International Airport — American Airlines and Frontier Airlines — cost more than $200 for round-trips, Google Flights bookings searched on Saturday show.

Avelo passengers can bring one "personal item" onboard for free if it is not bigger than 17 inches long, 13 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Carry-on bags and checked luggage cost extra. Bags weighing more than 50 pounds or will cost passengers an additional $100 each. Booking or canceling not done online adds $25. Passengers who want to choose their own seats must pay an extra fee.

Also, recently, Allegiant Air announced it is offering nonstop flights from PBIA to Gerald R. Ford International Airport, which is about 13 miles from Grand Rapids, Michigan, with fares as low as $69 each way. Would-be passengers can book flights online at AllegiantAir.com, with departures starting Nov. 14. Travel time is just over three hours each way.
