Diman baseball blanks Durfee in holiday matchup: Top performers (Apr. 15-20)

FALL RIVER — Sam Perry had himself a day for the Diman baseball team on Monday.

The junior right-handed pitcher allowed just two hits to help the undefeated Bengals blank neighboring Durfee, 7-0, at Lafayette Park in Fall River.

"We faced a very good pitcher in Sam Perry," Hilltopper head coach Mike Martin said.

Joe Silvia had a hit and Owen Moniz finished with a triple for Durfee (2-1).

Somerset Berkley 10, Case 3

The Raiders took care of business against league opponent Case. Ethan Santos collected the win for SBR (1-1), picthing four innings, allowing a run on four hits and struck out two. Luke Thornton went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Camden Hoyle had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Liam Meehan also had two hits. Adam Gracie (run scored), Zach Kern (run scored), Will LeBoeuf, Aedan Borges and Ben Duquette each had a hit for the Cardinals (1-4).

Softball

Case 2, Dighton-Rehoboth 1

Freshman Lila Alvarez spun a gem for the unbeaten Division 4 state champion Cardinals in a close win over league opponent Dighton-Rehoboth on the road. Alvarez scattered four hits while striking out 10 in her 99-pitch effort. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. Lily Picard drove in the game winning run and scored a run. Ella Preston contributed a pair of hits and Nicole Rebelo had an RBI for Case (5-0).

Somerset Berkley 8, New Bedford 4

The Raiders came from behind late to beat non-league opponent New Bedford. Victoria Dematteo went the distance for SBR (2-1), allowing four hits, two walks, three eraned run while striking out six. Tatum Swanson (home run, RBI, run scored), Lillian Brisson (home run, two RBIs, run scored), Makenzie Jacob (double, walk, run scored), Sydney Bednarz (double, RBI, two runs scored) and Emma Javier (two RBIs, run scored) each collected a pair of hits. Dematteo had a double, RBI and run scored. Courtesy runner Samantha Comeau also scored a run.

Girls Lacrosse

Bourne 9, Somerset Berkley 8

The Raiders lost a close matchup in their first inaugural home game to Bourne. Addie Finlaw had a hat trick for SBR (0-2). Catherine Brownell and Julie Pacheco each finished with two goals. Abigail Vieira also scored a goal. Sophia Valcourt had 13 saves in net.
