Dick Van Dyke Spotted Going to the Gym Ahead of His 98th Birthday

Dick Van Dyke

Dick Van Dyke may have been alive for nearly a century now, but nothing's going to keep him from staying as physically fit as possible!

The legendary actor proved, once again, that age is nothing but a number, after he was spotted heading to the gym just before his 98th birthday, which he celebrated yesterday, Wednesday, Dec. 13.

The Mary Poppins star got in some exercise alongside wife Arlene Silver—whom he has previously credited for helping keep him young—the day before the special occasion, as evidenced by photos published by PageSix.

In the captures, the couple appeared jolly as ever, with Van Dyke and Silver both shooting wide-toothed smiles directly toward the camera.

When asked by the cameraman whether he was getting a final workout in before his big day, he responded, “Tomorrow, that’s right," further joking, "My God, nobody should be 98 years old.”

The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang actor then smiled while pointing at his wife, admitting, “I hate going to the gym. She makes me go to the gym.”

Earlier this year, Dick became the oldest competitor on The Masked Singer, appearing on the Season 9 premiere episode as The Gnome before delivering a performance of "When You're Smiling" by Billie Holiday and being unmasked at the end of the show.

Soon after, he was involved in a car accident, making lighthearted remarks about walking away basically completely unharmed, though he sustained "minor injuries" as a result of the collision.

In April, it was announced that he had booked his very first soap opera role—a testament to the fact that he clearly has no intentions of slowing down any time soon.

Cheers to 98 and a literal lifetime of being iconic, Dick!
