Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month marked by coloring and essay contests

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently celebrated March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This included engaging local elementary school students in coloring and essay contests.

There were 1,022 students from 72 different classrooms participating, representing all local public elementary schools and two private schools. Those in kindergarten to second grades were part of the annual coloring contest and those in third to sixth grades were in the essay contest.

Elementary students in kindergarten to second grade competed in a coloring contest and those in third to sixth grade were in an essay contest from the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities for DD Awareness Month in March. Winner in the back row are Warren Hartmeyer, Bo Olinger, Auybree Hittle and Mason Addy. In the front row are Rayanne Bradford, Avery Simmons, Kobie McKee, Harper Smith, Harper Seibert and Adalynn Gerthing.

Winners of the coloring contest were Alivia Guilliams of Sacred Heart, Avery Simmons and Paislee Morris of Coshocton City Schools, Harper Seibert of Coshocton Christian, Adalynn Gerthing and Rayanne Bradford of Ridgewood and Harper Smith and Kobie McKee of River View.

Essay contest winners were Esme Dawson and Bo Olinger of River View, Auybree Hittle and Warren Hartmeyer of Coshocton City Schools, Mason Addy and Elijah Smoulder of Ridgewood and Ivy Moore of Sacred Heart. Katina Wilson from River View Elementary received the teacher classroom prize.
