COMEBACK CATS: Detroit Tigers come alive in 8th inning for 4-3 win over Minnesota Twins to split series

Game notes: By no means is the Detroit Tigers offense clicking on all cylinders, but the unit has developed a knack for some timely hits. The Tigers were heading toward their third straight loss to the Twins on Sunday when all of a sudden the offense came alive. Much-maligned shortstop Javier Báez actually got the rally started by blasting his first home run of the season, sparking the rest of the offense to a four-run eighth inning and a win over the Minnesota Twins. Things won't get any easier for the Tigers as the defending World Series champions are coming to town for a four-game series. The Texas Rangers have not gotten off to a great start as they're just .500 through 16 games, but have played a tough schedule so far, including two sets against the Houston Astros and a series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Ironically, the Rangers will have Michael Lorenzen on the mound, who pitched for the Tigers last year and was the team's representative in the All-Star game. Lorenzen will be making his Rangers debut after a short stint on the Injured List because of a right neck strain. Meanwhile, the Tigers will have Reese Olson pitching, looking to bounce back after a subpar outing his last time out, giving up nine hits and six runs to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The two teams will be back in action again Tuesday at 1:10 p.m. with Casey Mize on the mound for Detroit.
