Detroit Pistons game score vs. New Orleans Pelicans: What TV channel is tonight's game on?

The Detroit Pistons are coming off the first half of a back-to-back in which they blew an 18-point lead to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena. Cade Cunningham paced the Pistons with 30 points for the second time this season but continued his issues holding onto the ball; he had six turnovers Wednesday, bringing him to a league-high 27 on the season, or 5.4 per game; that’s up from 3.3 in his 12 games last season before undergoing shin surgery and his 3.7 per game as a rookie.

The Pistons have lost five straight against the Pelicans, dating back to their most recent win on Feb. 14, 2021. That win featured double-digit scoring performances from Josh Jackson (21), Svi Mykhailuk (18), Deion Wright (17), Mason Plumlee (17), Saddiq Bey (16) and Jerami Grant (15) … which is a list that explains a lot of why the Pistons haven’t topped 24 wins since 2018-19. The next season featured the Pistons’ most recent win in the Big Easy, a 105-103 victory on Dec. 9, 2019, in which Derrick Rose led the Pistons with 21 points — including a game-winning 14-foot jumper as time expired — Langston Galloway had 16 off the bench and Blake Griffin had five points in 34 minutes.

New Orleans is coming off a narrow victory over Oklahoma City — which routed the Pistons on Monday night — in which Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum combined for 49 points and 19 rebounds. McCollum, in his 10th NBA season is averaging 21 points a game after dropping 29 on the Thunder on 10-for-17 shooting, including five 3-pointers.

After tonight’s matchup, the Pistons have a couple days off before hosting head coach Monty Williams’ former team, the Phoenix Suns, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Pels, meanwhile, host the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night.

Pistons injury report vs. Pelicans

Detroit’s roster is also starting to grow almost Wembanyama-thin; second-year center Jalen Duren, who was averaging 15.5 points and 13.3 rebounds, missed Wednesday’s game with a bad ankle, and veteran scorer Alex Burks (15 points per game) was out with forearm soreness. That adds to the issues created by the injuries to Bojan Bogdanovic (calf), Monte Morris (quad) and Isaiah Livers (ankle) — all three will be reevaluated by late November —and resulted in rookie guard Marcus Sasser, the 25th overall pick this summer out of Houston, getting 23 minutes off the bench against the Blazers.

The Pelicans will be without guard Jose Alvarado for another week with a right ankle sprain. Guard Brandon Ingram was listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
