Detroit Pistons buy out Mike Muscala, who was acquired in Wizards trade in January

The Detroit Pistons' ever-evolving roster continues to change, as the team has bought out center Mike Muscala, the Free Press has confirmed Tuesday night.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report that the Pistons are "finalizing a contract buyout" with Muscala, less than an hour after the 105-95 victory in Chicago.

The 6-foot-10, 32-year-old was one half of the trade haul for Marvin Bagley III, Isaiah Livers and two second-round picks. Last month's trade, which also yielded Danilo Gallinari, also created a $5.7 million trade exception for Detroit.

On the day of the NBA trade deadline earlier this month, the Pistons waived the 35-year-old Gallinari, who has since signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wojnarowski reports that a few contending teams are interested in acquiring Muscala, who scored 13 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the 3-point line on Jan. 20 against the Bucks.

But since playing 25 minutes on Feb. 7 at Sacramento, Muscula's playing time had been reduced. He has not played in the last four games since the All-Star break and he Pistons seem committed to play Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart (who returned from injury and suspension on Tuesday), Simone Fontecchio and James Wiseman ahead of Muscala.
