Bears-Lions game could feature 3 sets of brothers

The Chicago-Detroit game could feature three sets of siblings when they take the field on Sunday.

The occurrence has happened just two other times. Back in 1979, the Cincinnati Bengals played the Pittsburgh Steelers twice and both games featured the likes of Chris and Matt Bahr; Jim and Ross Browner and Archie and Ray Griffin, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

On Sunday, the three sets of twins will be Julian and Romeo Okwara; Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown and Noah and Penei Sewell. Equanimeous St. Brown and Noah Sewell play for the Bears, while the rest suit up for the Lions.

Lions RB David Montgomery to face former team for 1st time

Lions running back David Montgomery will face the Bears for the first time since leaving Chicago to sign a 3-year deal with Detroit in March.

Montgomery has recently returned from an injury of his own, suffering a rib injury against Tampa Bay in Week 6. He returned in Week 10 to provide 116 yards anda touchdown on 12 touches against the Los Angeles Chargers.

On the season, Montgomery has totaled 501 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns in six games.

Justin Fields, Khalil Herbert return for Chicago Bears

Bears quarterback Justin Fields has missed the last three weeks due to a thumb injury, but is poised to take over behind center once again for Chicago.

In the two games prior to his injury against the Minnesota Vikings where he had thrown for just 58 yards and interception beofre dislocating his thumb, Fields had been on fire.

Against the Denver Broncos, Fields threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 25 yards on the ground. The following week against Washington, Chicago earned the team's first win of the season behind 282 passing yards passing, 57 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns through the air.

As for Khalil Herbert, the Washington game in Week 5 was where the running back suffered an ankle injury that landed him on the injured list.

Prior to the injury, Herbert was also starting to find his groove in Weeks 4 and 5, totaling a combined 179 yards on 28 carries over that span. Herbert has yet to score a rushing touchdown this season.

Bears-Lions predictions

Even the return of Bears quarterback Justin Fields and running back Khalil Herbert doesn't seem to phase the experts in Week 11, as no one is giving Chicago a chance to knock off the Detroit Lions this Sunday. Long gone are the days when Barry Sanders filled fans with awe as he put Detroit on his back raced to divisional titles in 1991 and 1993, but the 2023 Lions are a different kind of beast. Having played just one NFC North opponent so far, the Lions are a comlete team with their best record through the first nine games since 2014 at 7-2.
