Aaron Rodgers wanted Randall Cobb and he got him. The Packers acquired the veteran wide receiver from the Houston Texans earlier this week.

It was a smart move on Green Bay’s part. Rodgers openly admitted he wanted to reunite with Cobb and the Packers granted his wish.

“Obviously without Aaron, I don’t think we would probably be pursuing that, but he’s still a really good player,” said GM Brian Gutekunst on Thursday, via the Associated Press. “Seeing him last night just kind of reminded me of what kind of impact he’ll have in our locker room for our football team. This is a very important thing for Aaron, and that’s why we did it.”

Green Bay and Cobb worked out the financials of his deal on Saturday.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Cobb is getting a three-year deal. It includes a $4.175 million reporting bonus and a $1.075 million base salary.

“#Packers WR Randall Cobb did a 3-year deal,” Silverstein said on Twitter. “He received a $4.175M bonus for reporting, a $1.075M base salary and $375K max in per game roster for a total of $5.625. The roster bonus is treated as a signing bonus and spread over three years, so his cap number is $2.687M.”

The Packers expect Randall Cobb to play a significant role in the offense this upcoming season. He’s still capable of producing, despite his age.

Last year with the Texans, Cobb caught 38 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns. In 2019, Cobb hauled in 55 passes for 6,793 yards and three scores for the Cowboys.

Cobb could have one of his better years in recent memory now that’s back with the Packers and catching passes from Rodgers.
