Despite crushing playoff loss to 49ers, Colin Cowherd, LeRoy Butler and many others impressed with Packers' performance this season
So you woke up this morning and continued to ask yourself how the Green Bay Packers lost another playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers?
Well, join the club.
It’s incredible that the Packers lost that game, What a gut punch.

Still hard to believe the Packers lost that game.
— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) January 21, 2024
Well, the Packers did everything but beat the 49ers.

The Packers have lost 5 playoff games with a lead in the final 5 minutes since 2000, the most of any team in the NFL
2003 vs Eagles
2014 at Seahawks
2015 at Seahawks
2021 vs 49ers
2023 at 49ers
The heartbreak continues— Doug Clawson (@doug_clawson) January 21, 2024
But when the sting cools from the 24-21 loss to the NFC's best team and we can reset and take a further replay review of the season, remember that none of this was supposed to happen.
Remember that the Packers were never supposed to be the No. 7 seed with the a young quarterback that was replacing Aaron Rodgers. They were supposed to be "rebuilding."
Remember that they broke the Dallas Cowboys' 16-game home winning streak in the wild-card round of the playoffs before outplaying the top-seeded 49ers for more than three quarters despite missed opportunities (and a missed field goal).
And if you still can't stomach it, let some others refresh your memory on why the future is so bright for the Packers. (It's OK to do so while your broken heart is still in repair).
Here's a sample. Even Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd has completely reversed his thoughts on the Packers' future.
Honestly, never had a higher opinion of Packers HC Matt LaFleur. To take this young roster, into that environment, and outplay SF for much of the game, was really impressive. Niners are stacked w some veteran, HOF talent. Green Bay should be excellent for years.

Welp! I'm proud of this team @packers but clearly gave the 49ers the game, with 2 picks in the 4th quarter, drop pick 6, and missed FG equals young team, what's painful is we had our chances to put it away and couldn't do it! But the future is so bright! Go pack!

Yes, another heartbreaking Packer playoff loss.
But unlike others in recent years, this one was coming in as a huge underdog playing with house money.
All future signs pointing north for the Packers...— Andrew Brandt (@AndrewBrandt) January 21, 2024
The NFL's youngest team was good enough to beat the 1 seed at the 1 seed but it just wasn't experienced and mature enough to CAPITALIZE on all the opportunities it was handed.

I remember when dumb people said LaFleur couldn’t coach 😂😂😂
Clinical so far.
And Love is a dude.— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) January 21, 2024
What a season for Jordan Love 👏
Took over as starting QB after Aaron Rodgers trade
Started season 2-5
Won 7 of last 10 games
Threw 4,159 YDS and 32 TD
Finished year 9-8, clinched final playoff spot in NFC
Upset No. 2 seed Cowboys in Wild Card
Future is bright for QB1 🏈 pic.twitter.com/oeNusYsCXo— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) January 21, 2024
And one other note, did Steven A. Smith jinx Jordan Love and the Packers when he was ripping Brock Purdy?
The better-looking QB on the field tonight is Jordan Love. Purdy is overthrowing, underthrowing, etc. Hasn’t looked good at all. @packers look like they have him shook. Don’t like @49ers chances of winning this game at all right now
