Despicable Me 4 has launched its first trailer, showcasing what Gru and his family are up to, and the new villains they'll be facing off against.

Gru, Lucy and the three girls Margo, Edith and Agnes are back – as well as the Minions, of course. But now there's a new addition to the family with newborn baby Gru Jr.

Gru Jr seems not to particularly like his dad – and in fact, seems intent on tormenting him – but as the trailer reveals, it turns out he's pretty good at dealing with honey badgers.

If changing family dynamics weren't enough to deal with, there are also some new baddies on the block in Despicable Me 4: Maxime Le Mal and Valentina, voiced by Barbie's Will Ferrell and Modern Family's Sofía Vergara, respectively.

The threat this supervillain couple poses to Gru and his family is so great that they have to go and hide out at a safe house. But it looks like it won't be long before the world needs saving again.

We've also got new characters voiced by The Kissing Booth and Bullet Train's Joey King, Saturday Night Live's Chloe Fineman, and legendary late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert.

Other returning stars include Pierre Coffin as the voice of the Minions and Steve Coogan, who reprises his role as Silas Ramsbottom.

Chris Renaud, who co-directed the first two films, is back for this one, while Ken Daurio is once again on writing duties, alongside The White Lotus' Mike White (yes, really).

Despicable Me 4 will be released in cinemas on July 12. The first two films and the two Minions films can be streamed free for NOW and Sky Go subscribers, while Despicable Me 3 can be bought or rented from digital retailers.
