Window treatments may not be top of mind, but that doesn't mean they aren't important. Whether with curtains, blinds or fabric shades, kitchen window treatments provide privacy and filter light entering your cooking space — plus, they can add a dose of color, texture and pattern. "Kitchen window treatments elevate a space by making it feel like part of the home as opposed to just an area to cook," says Linda Hayslett, founder of LH.Designs. When shopping for window treatments, the designer suggests considering the location of your windows and the activities that occur nearby. "You don't want anything that's too precious that you'll be worried about all of the time," says Hayslett. Kitchens get messy! Hint: If windows are near the stove or prep station, patterned curtains or shades may do a better job of hiding splatters.
Since window treatments are temporary, they're a great place to experiment with colors and prints, but you'll find plenty of white and neutral ideas as well.
