Derek Chauvin wrote lawyer’s phone number on hand prior to guilty verdict

Derek Chauvin wrote his lawyer’s phone number on his hand in preparation for a guilty verdict, according to multiple reports.

After Chauvin was convicted Tuesday for the murder of George Floyd, he was shown exiting the courtroom in handcuffs, with ink on his left hand.

That writing was the phone number for his lawyer, Eric Nelson, TMZ reported. After the jury delivered its guilty verdict, Chauvin had his bail revoked and was immediately incarcerated.

Chauvin, 45, was taken to a maximum security prison in Minneapolis, according to local Fox affiliate KMSP.

The former Minneapolis police officer was convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for the May 25, 2020, murder of Floyd. He faces up to 75 years in prison and will be sentenced in about two months.
