Denny Hamlin Apologizes For Tweet: NASCAR World Reacts
Denny Hamlin has apologized for the insensitive tweet that he posted on his Twitter account on Monday.
Hamlin tweeted a clip from the show Family Guy that shows an Asian driver cutting off cars without signaling. In the clip, he had Kyle Larson’s name superimposed over the driver as a way to make fun of him.
It’s important to point out that Larson’s mom is Asian-American, too.
Larson caused a crash during the Geico 500 on Sunday as a lot of drivers were involved in it.
“I took down a post I made earlier today after reading some of the comments,” Hamlin tweeted. “It was a poor choice of memes and I saw how it was offensive. It came across totally wrong. I apologize.”

The NASCAR world has offered their reactions to this apology.
Good, more helping the race team you own and less dumb memes https://t.co/aHGpm0Id3G

Denny Hamlin apologizes for posting Asian woman driver clip from The Family Guy & comparing her to his good friend Kyle Larson, whose Dega move wrecked both 23XI cars. Larson is of Japanese descent. NASCAR could react (fine, sensitivity training, etc) for the stereotypical meme. https://t.co/4r7dk1KJBt

Strong reminder that what you say on social is public and opens you up to more people and thus more misunderstanding. Or, in other words, be careful with what you post, lest you post something unwise. https://t.co/7U7DGkYcm1

Good on Denny for realizing his mistake and correcting. The best thing about tweets like this is going through the comments and blocking the racists crying about everyone being too sensitive. https://t.co/7YxtgXSz8t

It's supremely weird to see how many people have told Denny he didn't need to do this, or emphatically defended a stereotype as means of poking fun at someone. Denny did the right thing here, even if his intention wasn't to offend. It's OK to be wrong and apologize. https://t.co/9ruGyFNmYr

There's fans saying Denny shouldn't apologize.
It's easy to say people "couldn't take a joke." However, being subjected to Asian/racial jokes are old & never OK.
I appreciate Denny's reflection. I hope he understands/grows from this & same for others who liked his deleted post. https://t.co/DdhudLg8hv

Here is the thing @dennyhamlin , it was a poor choice. Period. The meme came off the way it was intended. And that is what you should be apologizing for. Apologies work best when you aplogize for your actions, not how other people were impacted by your action. https://t.co/m7cUt1T9JE

It remains to be seen if NASCAR disciplines Hamlin for that tweet.
