Actor Dennis Quaid was seen around Fort Worth over the weekend between filming scenes for a new “Yellowstone” spinoff.

Quaid was cast in “1883: The Bass Reeves Story” on Thursday and was spotted days later in Fort Worth at an Apple store Saturday. Quaid is set to play Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshall in the Paramount Plus show.

The Taylor Sheridan production will follow “Bass Reeves” as he navigates the west as the first black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River. The show is the third spinoff production of the popular Paramount drama “Yellowstone,” and stars David Oyelowo as the titular real-life lawman.

Quaid is a tried and true Texan, born in Houston and raised in the surrounding area, including nearby town Bellaire. The actor has been working since the 1970s, appearing in “The Day After Tomorrow,” “Far From Heaven,” “Frequency,” and “The Rookie,” among others.

Along with gracing the silver screen, Quaid is in a band called, “Dennis Quaid and the Sharks,” which stopped by Fort Worth in 2019 to play at Billy Bob’s Texas.

Filming for “Bass Reeves” is already in full swing, with the show set for production in Fort Worth, Glen Rose, Weatherford and most recently Waxahachie.

It’s not yet known when “Bass Reeves” will air on Paramount Plus, but Sheridan still has plenty in store to hold fans over. “Yellowstone” season 5 is currently on a mid-season break and will return sometime this summer, while another prequel show titled “1923” is midway through its first season on Paramount Plus.
