Denise Austin Recreates Beach Workout From ‘30 Years Ago’ in ‘Then and Now’ Video

  • Denise Austin recreated a workout clip from 30 years ago in a new Instagram.

  • In both clips, she wears a pink bathing suit and does her classic move, the grapevine, on the beach.

  • “I LOVED filming my TV shows all those years!!! And I feel so grateful I am still feeling just as energized NOW!!!” she wrote.

Denise Austin loves a good throwback post. We’ve seen her rewear many an iconic look—a blue leotard and leg warmers and a red swimsuit, for example—from her days of filming Denise Austin’s Daily Workout, and her latest “then and now” video might just be our favorite. The 67-year-old recreated a beach workout video “from 30 years ago” that demonstrated one of her favorite moves, the grapevine.

In the clip, Austin stood on the beach while a snippet of her in a very similar location played above her head. In real time (and wearing a very similar pink bathing suit!), she mimed the vintage clip and broke into the classic side-step. Like royalty welcoming her guests, she simultaneously extended the accompanying arm out wide in a sweeping motion, adding a hop in before heading the other direction.

“I LOVED filming my TV shows all those years!!! And I feel so grateful I am still feeling just as energized NOW!!!she captioned the post. “Staying consistent with my routines is KEY to feeling my BEST now and for the years to come!!! Longevity Baby!!!I truly appreciated my time filming these workout TV Shows in beautiful locations and love even more that these exercises can still benefit your health today!!

She concluded the post, as always, by encouraging followers to make time to move. “If you haven’t moved your body yet today, I invite you to join me in getting stronger and increasing your energy with this simple FUN grapevine move you can do anytime,” she wrote.

Fans and followers adored the throwback and appreciated the still-relevant fitness advice. “Your videos got me through decades of fitness goals. Thank you,” one person commented. “Some things NEVER change!!! Salute!!!🎊🎉🥳👏🙌,” another added. “Just as fun now as then. 🔥🔥🔥,” someone else wrote.

We would have to agree. And just because Austin started her fitness journey decades ago doesn’t mean it’s too late to begin yours. “You’re never too old to start. Don’t give up,” she previously told Prevention. “Because your body can change and be healthier. You can do [it] step by step—little things.” Little things like the grapevine, of course!
