Demon Slayer Is Getting A Mario Party-Style Game

Demon Slayer Board Game game

When you think of a potential Demon Slayer game, what comes to mind? The first thing is probably CyberConnect2’s The Hinokami Chronicles, an arena fighter that’s pretty good and has a wide roster of fan-favorite characters. After that, maybe Fortnite? There have been heaps of Fortnite anime crossovers, so maybe Demon Slayer is next. How about Mario Party?

Aniplex has announced a new Demon Slayer game that plays, essentially, like a Mario Party game. You roll some dice, walk around a board, and compete in minigames against other players. Instead of Mario characters, your game pieces are Demon Slayer characters, but everything else seems pretty damn similar.

The game is called Demon Slayer: Aim for the Strongest Soldier, or at least that’s what it’s called in Japanese. So far, an English release for the game hasn’t been confirmed, and may never be confirmed. Demon Slayer isn’t quite the cultural milestone in the West that it was a few years back, but it’s certainly still relevant, so we’re expecting it’ll probably make the jump over — especially since the official Twitter account for the game is following the Western account for The Hinokami Chronicles.

Other than that, we actually don’t have a great deal of details for the upcoming board game game. The developer isn’t listed, and there’s no firm release date, just a vague “2024” window. We do know, however, that it’s exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and will support up to four players locally and online. We also know that it looks kinda cute, putting a fun Demon Slayer spin on some familiar-looking minigames.

It’ll also support motion controls for at least some of the minigames on offer, and button control for others. So far we’ve seen six playable characters: Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, Muichiro Tokito, and Giyu Tomioka, though it seems likely there’ll be a lot more than just that.
