We asked readers where to find the best cocktails in Whatcom County and the votes are in.

The poll had 18 local cocktail bar options in Whatcom County including Galloway’s Cocktail Bar, The Temple Bar, The Fireside Martini & Wine Bar and Amendment 21.

The unscientific poll received 207 votes.

Best cocktails in Whatcom County

Matthew’s Honest Cocktails received 55 votes to top the list of the best cocktails in Whatcom County.

The cocktail bar offers visitors a variety of drinks and a friendly atmosphere.

“Since Matthew’s selects and purchases our own one-of-kind barrels of whiskey, many of our best sellers are bourbon or Rye based, and some are served straight from small oak barrels in the bar, like the barrel-aged Oldie and Negroni, both of which are good sellers,” Matthew Twining, owner and part-time bartender at Matthew’s Honest Cocktails wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

The menu features classic cocktails such as an old fashioned, mojitos and special rotating drinks.

“Even though we’ve only been open for 9 months or so, there’s a great little group of regulars that have become fast friends- we’re always happy to make more,” Twining wrote.

Matthew’s Honest Cocktails is also popular online, although it has only been open for a few months, receiving a 5-star rating from 10 reviews on Yelp.

Matthew’s Honest Cocktails is open from 4 p.m. to midnight daily and is at 132 W Holly St. in Bellingham.

Following Matthew’s Honest Cocktails with 53 votes was The Admiralty Lounge, another new cocktail lounge that recently opened in Bellingham.

The Admiralty Lounge serves cocktails, starters and a small menu of main dishes including steak, seafood stew, smoked oysters and dessert. Visitors can enjoy classic cocktails such as an old fashioned and martini, as well as a selection of wine and beer.

The Admiralty Lounge is open from 4-10 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Saturday. The lounge is located next to The Mount Baker Theatre at 100 N Commercial St.

In third place was Galloway’s Cocktail Bar with 24 votes and Jack’s Bar with 17 votes was fourth.
