Del-Co Water Company residential rate increase of $3 a month

Del-Co Water Company − a nonprofit, member-owned utility serving Marion and seven other counties − has announced a customer rate increase.

The minimum fee for residential water service will increase by $3 per month, along with adjustments to volumetric rates. The change was effective May 1.

The company says the increase comes after a thorough analysis completed in partnership with a national rate expert consulting firm and is driven by several factors for maintaining and enhancing water services.

Del-Co Water Company is a member-owned, non-profit, cooperative water utility that serves eight counties in Central Ohio.

It notes the infrastructure requires upgrades to meet new regulations and usage patterns of its members. In addition, continuous maintenance is required to ensure a consistent and uninterrupted water supply.

Del-Co also cites rising operational costs associated with energy, treatment chemicals, inflation and operational/maintenance tasks and adds the rate increase also is a strategic move toward long-term sustainability.
