Dedicated Honkai: Star Rail Players Get Easy Access To PS5 Platinum Trophy

The latest game from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse, Honkai: Star Rail, has now officially released on PS5. The free-to-play turn-based RPG with anime stylings has been a smash hit on PC, iOS, and Android, but many fans were waiting for a console release before jumping in.

Players who didn’t wait, however, have been racking up hours in the PC and mobile versions of the game, and that’s created a bit of a strange side effect when they logged into the PS5 version of the game today. Players who’ve already completed the tasks required to unlock trophies for Honkai: Star Rail will instantly unlock those trophies when connecting their accounts in the PS5 version of the game.

The result is people being bombarded with trophy notifications the moment they log in, and due to how the PS5 handles trophies – it takes a screenshot whenever you get one by default – many are having their consoles filled with screenshots of the loading screen. It’s very funny, but probably a good thing overall that players don’t have to restart their games to unlock trophies.

It also means that particularly dedicated fans who’ve put hundreds or even thousands of hours into the game prior to its PS5 launch are now being rewarded with instant platinum trophies — which are rewarded for unlocking every other trophy in a game.

One player even shared a post on Twitter with screenshots showing that they’d unlocked the platinum trophy for Honkai: Star Rail before the game even started properly, with the trophy screenshot showing the in-game download screen.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now on PS5, iOS, Android, and PC. It’s also coming to PS4 at some point in the future, but a release window has not been announced.
