Debra Winger says she quit ‘A League of Their Own’ after Madonna was cast

Debra Winger opted not to take a swing at “A League of Their Own” after Madonna was cast in the classic baseball movie, the actress revealed in a new interview.
Winger was preparing to play Dottie Hinson in the 1992 movie, but ultimately left the project following the addition of Madonna out of concern that director Penny Marshall was making “an Elvis film,” she told the Telegraph.

“As entertaining as [the final film] was, you don’t walk away going, ‘Wow, those women did that.’ You kind of go ‘Is that true?’” Winger told the British newspaper.
The role of Dottie ultimately went to Geena Davis.
Winger had been working with the Chicago Cubs to get ready for the role, and doesn’t think many of the actresses other than Lori Petty did enough training ahead of the movie, she told the Telegraph.
Winger said of Madonna that, “I think [her] acting career has spoken for itself.”

Filming for “Coming 2 America”, the sequel to the pair’s classic 1988 comedy, began in Atlanta, Georgia this week. Arsenio Hall was spotted on set on Aug. 23, 2019 as an aged-up Reverend Brown, one of the many characters he played in the hit film.
Murphy was also seen in character on set on Friday, dressed as Prince Akeem in head-to-toe royal regalia. “Coming 2 America” will follow Akeem and Semmi, Hall’s main character, returning to Queens, New York looking for Akeem’s son.
Season two of “Kidding” is well underway from the looks of Jim Carrey rocking a huge papier mache head on set on Aug. 20, 2019. Carrey, who plays main character Jeff “Mr. Pickles” Piccirillo on the show, was seen in Los Angeles wearing an oversized, animated head of his character on Tuesday.
Carrey was seen in two different outfits during filming, all while still wearing the oversized papier mache head.
