Death of influencer Alexis Sharkey is ruled a homicide

Alexis Sharkey, an Instagram star whose body was found by the side of a Houston road in November, died of strangulation, the local medical examiner’s office said Tuesday.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled the death a homicide, but it did not release a full autopsy report.

“The autopsy report will be available after law enforcement concludes its case,” Michele Arnold, a spokesperson for the office, said in an email.

Alexis Sharkey was found dead at 26 in the fall.

Sharkey’s body was found with no visible wounds on the morning of Nov. 28 near the Katy Freeway in Houston, authorities said.

John Richardson, a trash disposal worker, told KTRK-TV that Sharkey was naked when he and a coworker discovered the 26-year-old’s corpse.

The Houston Police Department said Tuesday that no arrests or charges had been filed in the case and that an investigation was ongoing.
