Corrin joined the cast for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film in February 2023, but their role has been kept a secret – until now.

As per Disney, the actor will play Cassandra Nova in the third entry in the Deadpool franchise, with the character possessing both telekinetic and telepathic powers.

The character also shares a special connection with Charles Xavier/Professor X from the X-Men series, with the pair being twins.

Corrin was spotted briefly in the latest trailer for the film, with the clips showcasing the character’s control of their powers and their seemingly dry sense of humour.

The plot for the film sees Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) join forces on a mission to save the world, though the trailer hints that it won’t be smooth sailing for the pair as they regularly bicker.

Corrin, who is best known for their role as the Princess of Wales in The Crown, previously spoke about the prospect of joining the MCU, revealing that they had to be “debriefed” on the events in the superhero series.

“Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person,” they began. “I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-f**k.

“All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing. I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people.

“It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 26.
