Dead body found in Lady Bird Lake; Austin police investigating

Austin police are investigating after finding a dead body in Lady Bird Lake Monday afternoon.

Officer Ariel Crumes told the media during a briefing that she did not have any identifying information about the deceased, including their sex. She added that police have not determined the cause of death or whether it will be ruled a homicide.

Crumes said someone called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, stating that they believed there was a body about 20 feet in the water of Lady Bird Lake near the First Street Bridge.
