DC has confirmed that a new Blue Beetle trailer is coming, and fans don’t have long to wait.

The upcoming superhero movie sees Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña star as Jaime Reyes, who gains superpowers from an ancient relic of alien biotechnology shaped like a, you guessed it, beetle.

On Tuesday (July 11), Blue Beetle’s official Twitter account shared a sneak peek of the upcoming trailer and announced the full video would be released on July 12.

The tweet read: "All systems check in 3, 2 ….. #BlueBeetle trailer tomorrow."

The brief footage teases an action-packed fight sequence, which leads on from the initial trailer released back in April that introduced some of Jaime’s origin story.

Blue Beetle will also be DC’s first movie about a Latino superhero, and fans are hopeful Jaime could appear again in the future.

When the first trailer was released, Maridueña shared his excitement, telling CBR: "I've got the jitters. Every time I see the trailer, I get excited. To be able to show it to all of you, it's been a pleasure. It looks sick!"

He also shared how this origin story differs to other superhero stories, adding: "We see some of these other superheroes, who can hide from their family that they're a superhero.

"But [Jaime's] family is right there with him on that first transformation. To come through this journey together is something we haven't seen in superhero movies, and it's the beating heart of this movie."

This movie marks the penultimate Worlds of DC movie before the new slate outlined by co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran begins.

However, Gunn has confirmed that Jaime is the "first DC character" who will appear in his new universe, while Superman: Legacy will be the first feature led by their new vision.

Blue Beetle is out in cinemas on August 18, 2023.
