DC has announced two new direct-to-video animated movies: Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths and Watchmen.

The comics giant has had success adapting some of its most famous superhero stories into animated flicks, often casting well-known screen actors alongside animation voice acting veterans.

It hasn't been announced who is voicing who yet, but it looks like the Justice League film will be part of the Tomorrowverse continuity, so we wouldn't be surprised if Supernatural's Jensen Ackles, Glee's Darren Criss, and The Boys in the Band's Matt Bomer return to voice Batman, Superman, and The Flash, respectively.

Both of these comic stories are two of DC's most revered, especially the latter, so fans will also be relieved to know that the Watchmen film will be R-rated (via IGN).

There has also been some chatter about James Gunn's Superman: Legacy being a set-up for a new Justice League live-action movie due to the recent announcements that Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi have been cast as Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific, respectively.

While that may be the case, Gunn has denied that he has been forced to include more superheroes in the film due to studio mandates, and that the animated film has nothing to do with his live-action plans.

If there is the chance of some overlap between the live-action and animated films, Ackles would love to make the leap to playing Batman on the big screen.
