Da'vine Joy Randolph Wore a Glamorous Light Blue Gown at the Oscars
It may still be daylight in Los Angeles, but the stars are shining in full force on the Oscars red carpet. Among them is Da'vine Joy Randolph, who is in contention tonight for the Best Supporting Actress award.
Though it marks her first Oscar nomination, Randolph clearly has her red carpet game down pat, turning up in an elegant periwinkle gown by Louis Vuitton that positively glittered with sequins. The star doubled down on textures with off-the-shoulder feathered wrap-style sleeves, evoking a classic boa, and a breezy, transparent train that wafted down the red carpet after her. Her blond locks were styled into sleek, bombshell waves for a dose of Old Hollywood glamour.
Randolph is nominated tonight for her work in Alexander Payne's film The Holdovers with Paul Giamatti, and is widely considered to be a front runner to take home the statue this evening. If previous awards shows serve as an indicator, she's in a strong position: she previously took home a win for her turn in the role of cafeteria manager Mary at the Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice, BAFTA, and Golden Globe awards. In her acceptance speech on the latter occasion, she said playing Mary, a cook at the fictional Barton Academy, "changed my life — you have made me feel seen in so many ways that I've never imagined, and I hope I've helped you all find your inner Mary. Because there's a little bit of her in all of us."
