The evening launched with host Conan O’Brien taking the stage with his guitar and his longtime friend and band leader Jimmy Vivino, singing a rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds,” and the show was off and running with artists performing backed by the stellar house band, led by veteran bassist Will Lee. Bettye LaVette sang a rousing version of “Things Have Changed”; Nile Rodgers kept the audience on its feet with Chic-helmed hits like “We Are Family” and “Good Times”; Marcus King played some blazing blues licks; the Black Keys roared through their hits “Howlin For You” and “Lonely Boy”; and Grohl roared even louder with “Everlong” and “Live and Let Die.” The night concluded with an all-star performance of “Let’s Dance.”
