Dave Bautista's new movie sets release date

Dave Bautista's upcoming film The Killer's Game has landed itself a release date.

As reported by Deadline, studio Lionsgate has pencilled the action flick to come out on September 13.

The film features the Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune actor as Joe Flood, a hitman with a terminal illness. He decides to put a hit on himself, preferring to be assassinated than let his illness take him.

But when he learns that his illness was misdiagnosed, and the assassins have started to target his ex-girlfriend, he has to put a stop to them.

The film also stars Bautista's Guardians co-star Pom Klementieff, fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Sir Ben Kingsley, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews, while Sofia Boutella plays the ex-girlfriend.

Earlier this year, Bautista said that he he'd be open to making an MCU return, but not as Drax the Destroyer, the character he played between 2014 and 2023.

"When I said that I was done, I was really just done with my journey as Drax," he said.

"I still have a relationship with Marvel. I've seen Kevin Feige again, [producer] Lou [D’Esposito] as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role.

"I love the universe – the superhero universe, I love it. I'm a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I'd be all over it.

"I just would like the opportunity to do a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role. I'd love to have the opportunity to play, like an ominous villain in the superhero universe. Yeah. But never. I'm not done with it. But my journey with Drax is over."
